Help

Exact steps for every part of Framewell. Hover any button or tab on the site for a short tip. Come back here when you are stuck.

First time: HUD, key, account

You cannot create an account without a one-time key from Second Life. Open sign-up is off.

  1. 1Buy Framewell on the Second Life Marketplace. It delivers a HUD named exactly Framewell HUD.
  2. 2In inventory, right-click it → Add (wear it). You do not need to rez land.
  3. 3Click the HUD once. It IMs you a key that looks like FW-XXXX-XXXX, and gives you Framewell Frame plus a Read Me notecard.
  4. 4Open mypicframe.com/welcome.
  5. 5Paste the key. Pick a username (friends will find you by this, not email). Enter email and a password (8+ characters).
  6. 6That creates the account and unlocks one 50-picture frame service.
  7. 7Lost the IM? Click the same HUD again. Same key. Never a new one from that HUD.

  1. 1Go to mypicframe.com/login.
  2. 2Use the same email and password you created.
  3. 3You land in Library.

Your profile

Click your name or the letter circle in the top corner. That is your profile, not People.

  1. 1Change the name shown next to the circle.
  2. 2Change your username (how friends find you).
  3. 3Change the email you sign in with. You must type your current password.
  4. 4Change your password. Current password, new password, confirm.
  5. 5Pictures, folders, and frames stay on the account. A name change does not move or delete them.

Library: folders and uploads

This is your picture cabinet. Pictures in ordinary folders stay on the website. Pictures you drop into a marked Frame folder go to Second Life (50 per key).

  1. 1Open the Library tab.
  2. 2New folder. Type a name, then Add. Double-click a folder to open it. Breadcrumbs at the top go back up.
  3. 3Images. Pick one or many files. Or drag files onto the window.
  4. 4Folder. Upload a whole folder from your computer. Subfolders become folders here.
  5. 5Pictures are resized so the longest side is 2048 pixels. JPEGs land between about 100 KB and 300 KB. PNG and WebP stay in that format only if they are under 500 KB. Otherwise they become JPEG. The original shape is kept.
  6. 6List / grid buttons change the view. Large icons show Folder : in front of folder names.
  7. 7Right-click a file or folder (or long-press on a phone) for rename, delete, share, publish.
  8. 8To move pictures — hover a picture and click the check. Other pictures then show checks too. Select as many as you want, then right-click one → Move to folder (the arrow on the right opens the list). Pick a Frame folder to send them to Second Life, a library folder to keep them only on the site, or New folder (library, unlimited). If you already have a folder with that name, the pictures go into it.
  9. 9Each HUD key creates one marked Published folder (rename it if you like) with a Frame 1, Frame 2, … badge. Drop up to 50 pictures in each. Library folders are unlimited and never go to Second Life until you move pictures into a Frame folder.

Publish pictures to Second Life

The frame only shows pictures sitting in a marked Published folder (Frame 1, Frame 2, …). Each of those folders holds 50 pictures.

  1. 1In Library, open the folder with the Frame 1 (or 2, 3…) badge, or move pictures into it.
  2. 2Or right-click a library folder → Send to published folder (stops at 50).
  3. 3The folder tile shows how many are on SL, like 12/50 on SL.
  4. 4To take pictures off: move them out of the Frame folder, or right-click → Move to library.
  5. 5Pictures in ordinary library folders stay on the website only. You can have as many of those as you want.

The picture frame in-world

  1. 1Rez Framewell Frame from inventory (or Add it if you cannot rez).
  2. 2The owner touches it once. It loads your published folders, then the menu opens with Frame 1, Frame 2, … Pick which folder this object shows.
  3. 3When someone is within the wake range (default 20 m), it starts the last folder you picked. Touch → Settings to change that range, mute chat, or open the website.
  4. 4Pick Frame 4 (or any other). Only pictures in that published folder play.
  5. 5Left third of the face = previous picture. Right third = next. Center = menu.
  6. 6Copy the frame anywhere. Each copy can be set to a different Frame folder. A brand-new unused frame from a new HUD is another 50-picture service.
  7. 7If the frame says Stack-Heap Collision, it ran out of memory. Drop the latest Framewell frame script into the object (owner only) and save. Then touch it again.

Settings: website, chat, range

Touch a frame → Settings. Each copy has its own settings.

  1. 1Website opens mypicframe.com in your viewer (if you lost the bookmark).
  2. 2Chat off stops local chat when someone walks by and the frame wakes (the “Showing Frame 2…” lines). Chat is off by default. Turn Chat on if you want those notices.
  3. 3Range is how close someone must be to wake the pictures: 10, 20, 32, 64, or 96 m. Whole parcel wakes for anyone on the land — that is what used to spam chat on a busy sim.

Slideshow timing and effects

  1. 1On this site, open Second Life. Under Display, set effect, seconds, and slideshow. Every copy of that frame picks this up when someone is nearby.
  2. 2In-world: touch the frame → Settings → Display → Timing or Effect. That writes the same settings back to the site.
  3. 3Effects: Cut, Fade, Crossfade, Slide, Wipe, Zoom, Ken Burns.
  4. 4Slideshow is on by default (12 seconds unless you change it).

Buy another frame

  1. 1Buy another HUD on the Marketplace. Add it. Click it. You get a new key.
  2. 2Log into the same account. Do not create a second account.
  3. 3Open Billing. Paste the new key → Redeem.
  4. 4You now have a Frame 2 published folder (another 50 pictures). Rez a new unused frame and lock it to that service.

People and friends

You share with a username, never an email. They must accept first.

  1. 1Click your name in the top corner. Set your username (letters and numbers, 3+).
  2. 2Tell your friend that username. They do the same.
  3. 3Type their username in Add a friend. Click Invite.
  4. 4They open People → Waiting for you → Accept.
  5. 5Now you can share folders and pictures with them.

Share a folder or picture

  1. 1In Library, right-click the folder or picture → Share.
  2. 2Pick a friend who already accepted you.
  3. 3Optional: allow download. Folder share can also allow them to upload into it.
  4. 4Or make a link and send that. The link is a view, not a second file.
  5. 5They see a thumbnail. Click to enlarge. Save to their library if they want it on their own frame (that uses their 50 if they publish it).
  6. 6Sharing does not put your pictures on their Second Life frame. They must publish on their own service.

Shared tab

  1. 1Open Shared.
  2. 2Folders and pictures others shared with you are here, with thumbnails.
  3. 3Open a folder, click a picture to expand. Save or download if they allowed it.

Billing

  1. 1Marketplace already charged you in Lindens. This page is not a second checkout.
  2. 2Use it to redeem a second HUD key (another 50 pictures).
  3. 3Your claim code is shown if you ever use an in-world Pay vendor. Most people never need that.

Why visitors must click once

Second Life will not play a website on someone else’s prim until that person’s viewer allows Shared Media. You already allowed it, so you see the slideshow. Friends see the logo until they click the face once, or they turn on media auto-play.

  1. 1Firestorm: Avatar → Preferences → Sound & Media.
  2. 2Turn on Allow media to auto-play / play media on others’ objects.
  3. 3When asked, Allow mypicframe.com and remember it.
